Appendix A

I enjoy the tone Appendix A starts off the book, I originally thought that the class was going to be exclusively learning the HTML language, but as I read appendix A my thoughts have changed. Some of the information in the book, I have read about before like computer networks, but I never knew the certain types of cables used to create the network like coaxial and twisted pair cable. I now have a stronger knowledge of IP addresses, understanding it as almost a house address, you have a unique number for each device connected to the internet. It is unreal how far the internet has come since being created learning the difference between circuit and packet switching has open my eyes to that, I almost couldn't believe the example you gave us talking about the telephone call being connected to another line via an actual different line. In 1995 the term ‘Internet’ was coined and the internet started to grow vastly, with the creation of the Hypertext Markup Language and graphical user interfaces the internet was easier to use. Bandwidth has also come a long way, on average 10 years the average speed you can get was 5 Megabits per second, now the average speed is 219 megabits per second. This is an insane jump. Last month I got a new internet provider. My download speed went from 20 Mbps to 300Mbps download and upload thanks to fiber optic cable and the difference is night and day. Now there is a 100G network deployment, what would you even need all that for?
