Chapter 1
Even though I am not quite familiar with Edge and Firefox browsers I found chapter 1 common knowledge. The chapter starts with the terms network, interconnected network and internet. What's new to me is that an interconnect network is called an internet, but the Internet with a capital L is an internetwork that connects computers all over the world to a set of standards. I have little knowledge in HTML so seeing some of these examples freshens my mind about bold and italic tags used. URLs are talked about, as a heavy technology user I know a URL as a link to a website. Again, with heavy internet usage the navigation aspect comes easy to me, a lot of web browsers are different but share the same concepts such as page tabs, favorites, bookmarks and browser history. I believe that with my experience browsing the internet, I can manage using any web browser. One thing I did not know is what cookies are. Every website says something about them, but I never checked for myself what they are. Cookies are small text files that are saved to your computer's hard drive making it easier for companies to send ads based on your search pattern or such. This explains why I search for information and get ads in the next upcoming days about certain products or services. The next couple of topics I understand are just from using the internet, stuff like saving an image from a webpage, copying text, and printing a webpage. Maybe at first, I didn't understand but after right clicking around a couple times I found what I was looking for. There are hundreds of web browsers out there slightly differing from another with many options and features, the best thing you can do is use them for yourself and have a good understanding of which one is the best for you.
